DESIGN Harvests
The project contributes to social and economic exchange between rural and urban areas.
DESIGN Harvests is encouraging social and economic interaction between rural and urban areas in China by the acupunctural design approach. This means: single initiatives are unified in a general framework with the idea of working in a holistic way. The project is a collaborative social innovation experience that gathers committed creative individuals, local farmers, local communities, entrepreneurs and craftsmen to form a dynamic community. In this context, design is given a much more proactive role to intervene in large-scale social change by defining and solving strategic, holistic problems in daily lives and businesses. Through design thinking, it integrates the resources and demands of urban and rural areas, encourages youth to do start-ups, enhance urban-rural interaction and communication as well as create new business models. The entire design project outcome can be seen as the prototypes of visions for the future.
